In order to improve pedestrian safety and to facilitate better traffic flow, Kent Denver needed to upgrade the parking, student drop-off, and bus parking areas. This was accomplished by retrofitting the existing paved areas, adding islands, re-striping, and resigning the entire drop-off, parking, and bus lane areas. Tight budget constraints were met utilizing a creative approach that saved as much of the existing pavement and sidewalk as possible, while at the same time minimizing new pavement construction. The school also desired to add a new baseball field to meet the growing sports programs. The field was laid out to match the existing contours, balance the earthwork, blend with the surrounding slopes, and maximize drainage.
