With existing burial capacity nearing depletion, the Fort Snelling National Cemetery expansion was critical to sustaining services for a veteran population of more than 206,000 in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul region.
Calibre provided civil and structural engineering services for the development of approximately 10 acres of previously undeveloped land, delivering more than 20,500 new gravesites and extending service capacity through 2045. Working within National Cemetery Administration guidelines, Calibre prepared construction documents for new burial sections and supporting infrastructure.
The design included double-depth crypt systems, new and reconstructed roadways, parking areas, stormwater management, and expanded irrigation systems. Calibre also supported the design and renovation of key facilities, including a new LEED Silver administration building and upgrades to maintenance and public-facing structures.
