The Spring Valley development consists of nine distinct mixed-use commercial neighborhoods, a championship golf course, a clubhouse with sweeping mountain views, pro shop, meeting areas, restaurant parcels, and numerous water features on more than 600-acres. Also included 800 residential lots.
Calibre staff prepared master studies, golf design, irrigation ditch design, rerouting, modifications, and subdivision design while working for Calibre and while employed elsewhere. Floodplain modifications and major drainage channel improvements were a large component of the overall development planning and the complex water and sewer collection system was designed to account for offsite tributary service areas. To account for complicated drainage, Calibre designed five permanent ponds and a high ground water table.
The project also included the design of seven “Scottish Style” prefabricated bridges, five culvert crossings, and the layout of the trail system within the open space. The crossings were designed to separate the pedestrians from the golf course activities, while at the same time reflecting the unique architectural and site characteristics utilized on the other major crossings within the corridor. Calibre coordinated the project through many agencies and adjacent land owners, including CDOT, Longmont Water, City Engineering, banking institutions, developers, home builders, surrounding property owners, dry utility companies, and many outside consultants.
