This $42M complex included a Training and Education Center, Maintenance Shop, Heated Storage Facility, and an Unheated Storage Facility, totaling approximately 205,000 SF of building footprints. Site infrastructure included 2 detention ponds, 1 major POV parking area, 3 AMSA/ARNG/FMS parking areas, interior sidewalks, and all adjacent road improvements.  The project included 3500 LF of 2-lane gravel-to-asphalt low-volume roadway design (Reserve Center Road). The design was complicated by ongoing adjacent construction of driveways and utilities.
 
Calibre assisted the contractor during the proposal stage in evaluating the sanitary force main and lift station within the design-build RFP documents.  Through some site grading design alternatives, Calibre was able to provide a grading design that allowed for gravity flow of the entire sanitary system and eliminated the need for the force main and lift station.  This provided significant design and construction cost savings to the owner.
 
Calibre provided studies and investigations, feasibility assessments, planning, infrastructure studies, construction phase services (RFIs, shop drawings, contractor coordination, record drawings, etc.), designs for site grading, drainage reports and storm sewer, hydrology and hydraulic studies, pollution prevention planning, detention pond volumes and release rates, pond outlet structures, sanitary sewer sizing and routing, domestic water line sizing and routing, fire service line sizing and routing, natural gas service routing and relocations, and addressed AT/FP protection issues.  We coordinated criteria including UFAS, ADA, Local Drainage Criteria, DOT, AASHTO, ASTM, ASCE, AWWA, Fire Protection (NFPA Codes 70 & 71; UFC 3-600-01), Anti-terrorism, US Army Reserve Design Guide.
 
This project was fast track, requiring delivery of first grading plans within four weeks of notice to proceed.
