This $27M project consisted of design and construction of a multistory Type I Maintenance Aircraft Hangar at MCB Camp LeJeune, including a hangar addition, hangar bay, shop space, flight line operations and maintenance center, and crew/equipment/admin area.  The expansion required raising the existing ATCT by 20 feet, providing temporary facilities and utilities for occupants, demolishing existing maintenance aircraft hangar, and design/build replacement of the demolished building (46,263 SF) which will connect to Phase II P651.

The site required relocation of 900 LF of 8” sanitary sewer, 500 LF of underground electric, 550 LF of underground communications, 550 LF of SPAWAR underground communications, and 550 LF of 14” watermain. AT/FP design included a controlled facility perimeter, a 33’ minimum standoff for parking and roadway, an 82’ controlled perimeter for construction standoff distance, and a 30’ restriction on distance of adjacent buildings. The site required a 118,000 SF concrete pavement apron. Water design included a 320,000-gallon water storage tank feeding a 14” fire loop. Structures were required to meet UFC 3-200-10N Airfield Rating regulations and infrastructure was required to meet FAA ACA 150-5370-10 for airfield drainage. Solutions met UFC 3-210-10 Low Impact Development requirements, and stormwater system was required to meet 90% TSS removal.

Civil services included design survey, construction documents, design specifications, construction phase services, and construction staking, including construction documents, grading and erosion control, drainage planning, utility design, horizontal control, site paving, shop drawings, RFI, NCDENR permitting, and site visitation.
