The purpose of this project was to design a water transmission system to replace the existing water system on the North Base of Vandenberg AFB. The water system and security loop includes 6” cast iron and 10” asbestos concrete waterlines, a 10”x10” connection tee, a 10” gate valve, two 4” blow off valve assemblies, two 2” air release valves, two fire hydrant assemblies, one 2” service line with backflow prevention, and one 2” service connection. There is one automatic flush point in the system. The total length of the existing water line and security loop is 8960 FL, and the new system will total 10,500 LF with added tie-in points and crossings.
